How sponsored content is shown

SponsoredEvery sponsored piece carries a visible label at the top of the page and in the page's structured data.

  • Sponsored pages are never placed in an editorial feed slot without the label.
  • Your logo, a short brand description and a link appear at the end of the piece.
  • Links to your site are marked rel="sponsored".

Editorial independence

  • Editorial and sponsored work are kept separate. Sponsorship does not buy coverage, a favourable angle or the removal of a story.
  • Sponsors approve only their own sponsored content, never editorial.
  • Environmental, emissions and performance claims must cite a primary source or independent verification.
  • We may decline any sponsor or brief that is misleading or conflicts with an active investigation.
  • BEN is a separate publication. Sponsorship is not a route to consulting work.

What we do not accept

  • Content that misrepresents the regulatory status, approvals or compliance of a project
  • Advertising for tobacco, alcohol, gambling or political parties
  • Paid content presented as news without a label
  • Health or environmental benefit claims with no evidence

How it works

  2. We confirm format, price and schedule within two working days.
  3. We draft, or edit your copy, and send it for your review.
  4. We check claims against sources and may ask you for evidence.
  5. You approve your sponsored piece, and it goes live with the Sponsored label.
  6. You receive a performance summary 30 days after publication.
